Welcome to Huyton Boxing Club, in the
first week of opening in September
2002 up to 60 boys and girls had
joined the beginner’s section, with
about 20 members in the more
advanced sessions.
Keep fitters train there during the
day while women attend Boxercise
classes of an evening. The under 10s
group train on Sunday mornings. School
groups also use the gym.
All coaching is undertaken by
qualified coaches who are trained and
have been screened for their
suitability for working with young
people.
Huyton ABC has scooped the coveted
Clubmark award to become one of just
six of 822 registered boxing clubs in
the country to be granted such status.
Clubmark is the only national cross
sports quality accreditation scheme of
its kind and is a great achievement
for Huyton ABC.
With an emphasis on youth development,
Clubmark was introduced in 2002 by
Sport England to recognise the
commitment made by sports clubs to
produce high quality, welcoming
environments for young participants.
Accreditation is awarded to clubs that
comply with minimum operating
standards in four key areas: duty of
care and child protection; the playing
programme; sports equity and ethics,
club management.
